Reality TV

I am not a big fan of reality TV shows. I do like the music and dance ones usually but only the auditions because they are such a hoot. The actual show parts get a bit boring. X-Factor is the British equivalent of America's Got Talent and has our illustrious Simon Cowell on the panel of judges. While browsing through TV Guide this morning they made a reference to Simon and I always read "Simon" news. I checked out the X-Factor audition on YouTube and it was awesome.

Here is the link for the performance by Danyl Johnson. I would have embedded it but that function was disabled as per request. So go take a listen HERE. You will not be disappointed.

While I was surfing through YouTube (don't you just love it) I came across Susan Boyle's performance and it just gave me shivers. This woman is nothing short of fantastic. You can listen HERE!!

On the other hand dancing is good:

And for a little bit of a change up:

Of course we must have a wee touch of suspense in our morning as well:

Now that I have wasted time I must be off to do something a bit more constructive.

Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

Found a Job and faery clip art.

Well I finally found a job. Not an exciting job by a long shot but a job nonetheless. Good old Star Tek in Cornwall. Inbound call center for AT & T. But that is okay. I can sit, talk to people and get a pay check. I'm definitely not going to try and commute during the winter though. I will live in Cornwall and come home on my days off. I do so much dog sitting that my husband is quite used to me not being at home anyway. My biggest fear is that no one will let the dogs out or feed and water them properly. Hopefully that won't be the case. Anyway, I start training on Sept. 1st. Good shift... 11 am to 7:30 pm. That would be the perfect shift for me to work all the time. It would be nice if we got a choice.

Found some cute pics which I thought I would share will ya'll.

Today's quote is from Will Rogers:

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Robert Muraine

Ever since I saw the Ikea Commercials with Robert Muraine I have been a big fan. I did see him on So You Think You Can Dance as well. If you have not seen this man dance then you really need to.

Pain and Rain

Two things that I seem to be seeing a lot of these days. Pain and rain. About three weeks ago my back really started to act up and I was finding that I couldn't stand up as long as I used to do. By 3 in the afternoon I was either in my bed or wheelchair. Now it just hurts all the damn time whether I am standing up or not. What a pain... literally. I have managed to lose some of the 65 pounds that I have to lose... a whole 7 pounds. I am using a product called ISOFemme. You can find more info about it HERE. I know that 7 pounds isn't a great deal but it has only been two weeks and I'm not killing myself over this.

I bought this great book "French Women Don't Get Fat". It's not a diet book. It is a great story, with recipes, about a young French girl who came to America as an exchange student. When she went home she was considerably heavier. It is her story of reaching her proper weight and how the mind set of Europeans, French in particular differs. French women don't get fat and she tells you why they don't. It's awesome and I would more than recommend it to anyone, thin or otherwise.

Home Again

The above photo is my darling oldest daughter, Diesel the MinPin and Logan my ever so precious grandson.

I'm home again, damn. It was just so peaceful and nice and quite and people free. Home to the cats, dogs, fur, litter boxes, kids, etc, etc, etc.

New Grandson Pics. He is just the most precious little guy. I'm a truly dotting Grandma.

Logan on the lounge with Diesel and Pumpkin the cat looking on.

Logan climbing up the slide in his new pool.

The very best part of my life is the time I spend with Logan. In December he is going to have to share his world with a new little sister. I'm hoping the transition is easy for both of them.

Today's quote is by Will Rogers.

"Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier 'n puttin' it back in."

Rain, Paul Simon, Graceland and Ladysmith Black Mombaza...

and still it rains. After two beautiful days the rain is back in buckets. It has been a constant deluge since about 9 this morning. For me, this is a good thing. I abhor the heat and humidity and love the cool, rainy, breezy weather. Even cold and snowy weather. But heat.. no way.

Since it is a slow day and I haven't anything much to say at all I thought I would post one of my favourite songs. It is from The African Concert in Zimbabwe in 1985. From the Graceland Album by Paul Simon.

The Boy in the Bubble Lyrics

It was a slow day,
And the sun was beating
On the soldiers by the side of the road,
There was a bright light,
A shattering of shop windows
The bomb in the baby carriage
Was wired to the radio,
These are the days of miracle and wonder,
This is the long distance call,
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all,
The way we look to a distant constellation
That's dying in a corner of the sky,
These are the days of miracle and wonder
And don't cry baby don't cry
Don't cry,

(Pause)

It was a dry wind,
And it swept across the desert
And it curled into the circle of birth,
And the dead sand,
Falling on the children
The mothers and the fathers
And the automatic earth,
These are the days of miracle and wonder,
This is the long distance call,
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all o-yeah,
The way we look to a distant constellation
That's dying in a corner of the sky,
These are the days of miracle and wonder
And don't cry baby don't cry
Don't cry

(Pause)

It's a turn-around jump shot
It's everybody jump start
It's, every generation throws a hero up the pop charts,
Medicine is magical and magical is art think of
The Boy in the Bubble
And the baby with the baboon heart

And I believe
These are the days of lasers in the jungle,
Lasers in the jungle somewhere,
Staccato signals of constant information,
A loose affiliation of millionaires
And billionaires and baby,
These are the days of miracle and wonder,
This is the long distance call,
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all o-yeah,
The way we look to a distant constellation
That's dying in a corner of the sky,
These are the days of miracle and wonder
And don't cry baby don't cry
Don't cry don't cry

oooooooooEmmmmmmmmmmm........

These are the days of miracle and wonder. Everyday something new and amazing is created or discovered. This is also the long distance call.... someday we may be the distant planet dying in the corner of the sky... dark and damaged by those who called it home for so long. Nothing lasts forever if it is not taken care of and we, all of us, haven't done a very good job of looking after our own back yards let alone the world. These are the days of miracle and wonder... make them last as long as you can.

I have watched the video a hundred times, easy and love it every time. I became a big fan of Ladysmith Black Mombaza and have several of their tapes as well. Their music is very soothing and relaxing. I think it is the tone of their voices. Even when the songs and music are not slow the rich, deep, tones of their voices kind of lull you into a state of relaxation. They're awesome

I leave you with a piece from one of Paul Simon's songs, Homeless, sung by Paul and Ladysmith.

Strong wind destroy our home
Many dead, tonight it could be you
Strong wind, strong wind
Many dead, tonight it could be you

And we are homeless, homeless
Moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake
Homeless, homeless
Moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake
Homeless, homeless
Moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake

August 1st...

Another beautiful day in rural Martintown. It rained heavily last night. I love the rain. Each time I awoke the sound of the rain lulled my back to sleep in record time. Today the weather was a bit humid but not terribly hot. Lots of sun and a cool breeze. Very nice.

I found a couple of photos that I thought I might share. I really can't say where they came from as they were in emails.

Isn't this the most precious little critter? Just look at that face and those soft, velvety cheeks. Ya just want to hug it don't you.

This is a photo of the Purah Tanah Temple in Bali. It certainly looks like a place I would want to visit and maybe stay at for an extended period of time. I'm very fond of water and this looks awesome to me.

On another note, my Dell Studio 17 has lost it's sound for some reason. It was there and then poof. I hope it is a simple fix because I hate having to send it away to be fixed. I am very lonesome without my computer.

It is time to retire to the boudoir and read for a bit. Today I leave you with a quote from P.J. O'Rourke: "Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys."
